SANITARY BOARD ROOT
Hong-Kong 13th.April, 1 3 9 6

In reply to His Excellency's minute of the 7th.lastadt, I' an 1irected to forward you a return of the number of cases of tutonic plague occurring in the City of Victoria during each week of the current year so far as the Board has been able to ascertain.'
In considering this return it has to be borne in aind that until quite recently no meiical supervision of the registration of deaths has been exercised and on its commencement it was found that deaths reported from other causes were really from tutonic plague,'
From the return it will be seen that the disease appeared first mainly in the western part of the city and gradually spread eastwards.
The steps taken to cleanse and line-wash houses la district No.7 appear to have prevented any serious increase in the number of cases occurring in that listrict.
The measures adopted beyond the usual cleansing and disinfecting of premises with a view to staying the progress of the disease aay briefly te enumerated as follows."
